Henry Ford Health System Continues to Push Boundaries in Recent Double-Lung Transplant

Henry Ford Health System believes it is the first in the country to perform a double-lung transplant for a patient due to a life-threatening vaping illness.  

The seventeen-year-old was placed at the top of the transplant waiting list after doctors declared him incredibly close to death. Thanks to the team of doctors at Henry Ford, the teen is alive and recovering well.  

“Patients who have double lung transplants have a median survival of seven years after surgery, but the boy’s doctors anticipate he may be able to beat those odds, states NBC News
