The L.I.V.E Outreach is a Detroit based nonprofit organization with a mission of empowering, encouraging, and engaging with young women as they transition from foster care to independent living. The organization also provides young women with essential tools such as financial literacy, one–on–one mentoring, field trips, and resume/cover letter workshops.
During COVID-19, leadership has been prioritizing consistent communication with mentees and volunteers. In effort to help volunteers maintain a positive mindset, Malika Williams, the organization’s founder, distributes coping resources on a regular basis. She also shares hotline information to assist families dealing with anxiety or depression.
Online communication helps leadership keep an open door to volunteers in need. While the organization is unsure what the future holds, they will continue to support one another’s emotional health and well-being while servicing their community.
